Athlete Jumping Guidelines and Safety

Only 1 jumper is permitted to jump at a time. The coach must ensure that the athlete who has completed their jump is off the airbag before sending the next athlete. When required (a team does not have a coach or volunteer at both the top and bottom of the facility) LAUNCH staff will oversee communicating to the Drop in Coach that the Air Bag is clear and they can drop the next participant.

  • Always wait for the Coach sign to drop
  • Always brace for landing
  • Land on feet, butt or back – if landing on feet an athlete should immediately (or as immediately as possible) fall to their side, butt or back. Riding the bag out is not advised.
  • No Ski Poles
  • No Backpacks
  • Take off your snowboard or skis to exit the airbag
  • No lubricating chemicals or liquids (e.g. dish soap) allowed on the dry slope or skis other than wax and water.
  • Ski breaks must be wrapped in accordance with facility standards.

Athlete Equipment

To start each session, the facility staff and athletes onsite coach is to inspect every participant’s equipment before being able to head up to the drop-in zone.

All athletes MUST wax their skis or snowboards before using the facility. This will help ensure the artificial snow surface does not regrade unnecessarily quickly.

  • Skis or Snowboard *No edge cracks can exist on the equipment*
  • Boots
  • Helmet
  • Gloves
  • Full body clothing (no exposed skin on legs and arms)
